Need Any Help?

Well, as I've mentioned on the blog, I'm available to help with family or operational questions.  Remember, it's all confidential; it's just between you and me.  Contact me through the blog.

One of the reasons why I created the blog was that over the years, as a nursing home professional, I've been contacted regularly by resident families and professional colleagues who needed advice on a myriad of topics.  So I thought, well, maybe I can help a lot more people the same way that other people have helped me. I've never been able to return their generosity, so maybe in a way, by helping you, I can repay them.  I hope that makes sense.

I should say, however, that I do believe in tough love.  Try to remember that because in the long run, it's much better for everyone.  I helped raise two children in my life and I didn't baby them, so I certainly won't baby you (and they turned out to be great young women).  I'll tell you honestly and straight.  I don't care if you are a family member or a nursing home staff member, anyone associated with a nursing home knows how tough that experience can be.  It can suck the life out of us, both physically and emotionally.  We must be caring, but we must also be tough.  Yet at the same time, let me say this as well.  Experiences in my life have tried to drive out of me three critically important characteristics. I'm happy to say that they have failed.  They are the three most necessary aspects to assure a good and productive life.  They are kindness, mercy, and compassion.  Without these, we are no longer human.
